The games got underway. The motley crew I had assembled to win the trophy played surprising well, once I had volunteered to do a beer run and returned to the pitches with the precious cargo. The beer was consumed as quickly as the Flyers 1st at-bat against Marlay B during the last "Game of the Week".

Winning the trophy was within reach by end of the first day, with four wins secured against the Tigers, the Blazzers, the Oddsox/Marlay combination and the Diamond Dogs. We lost one game, but we didn't mind too much - it was orchestrated for one of our players whose bird played for Dodder. Sacrificing the game meant he'd probably get some that night.
